Become a Freelance Writing Superstar
I started off my online marketing career as a freelance writer. Although that was more than 3 years ago, my freelance writer gigs helped me quit my full time job and launch my Internet marketing business as well. I highly recommend everyone who can write, or want to write, to get a few writing gigs as a legitimate and sustainable way to improve your cash flow.
Although there a really good freelance writing guide available, in this article let me give you and idea of what you can do:
- Gost write for other people’s books and ebooks
- Write posts for website / blog owners
- Become a regular colun writer for offline / online media in various topics
- Become a paid blogger using sponsored blogging like PayPerPost
- Become an editor / proofreader and help proof someone else’s work
- Become a web copywriter and charge for every web copy written
Being an editor requires more of a critical eye and amazing grasp of grammar and writing styles. This is a skill not everyone, even world-class writers, possess. Since copywriting involves a lot of creative thinking, you may not be able to get opportunities easily. If you can write a proper sentence in English, most other types of writing is good for you.
For ordinary joes, focus on the remaining types of writing namely ghostwriting, paid blogging and content writing.
Ghost writing can help you earn a good amount of money, but the flip side to this is that no one will ever know who you are or appreciate the work you’ve done. In the Internet marketing world, lot of information marketers are constantly looking for someone who can help them write ebooks, instruction manuals and other types of documentation.
Writing articles and web content for blogs / websites is another great opportunity, plus in most cases you also get a “byline” for your work. If you write for blogs, chances are you get a link back to your own site. This gets you more exposure than you can dream of, especially if the blog gets a lot of traffic. For the sake of a career, blog writing is actually much better.
The final type of freelance writing you can do is sponsored blogging. First, you set-up your blog and then you look for opportunities to write paid blog posts. Your job is to write about the advertisers products and create some sort of buzz for them. How much you can charge for each article depends on the reach and popularity of your blog.
The great part of this is that technically you own the blog posts you have written, which means you can always make money from your growing blog with Google Adsense or even affiliate offers.
